WILLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING
June 18, 2014 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order @ 7:17 pm.

Approval of Minutes of 05/21/14: Minutes approved with 3 ayes PA, MD, RS and 2 abstentions CJ, MS. So moved

OLD BUSINESS
A. Properties Management
FRP-DS: The Commission thanks JJ Mottes Company of Stafford Springs CT for the donation of bench and picnic table concrete forms for use in FRP-DS. MD will measure and fit the boards for the table and benches and move them to the park picnic area. RS assembled the new bat house near the park entrance. The area underneath the kiosk has a wooden frame to hold fill in place to keep the area from becoming muddy. Permission was granted to get fill from the Town’s DPW site to fill in the area with new fill material.
Taylor Pond Trail Guide: CJ completed final text editing on the new guide and re formatted the pictures. The guidebooks will now be sent to the printers.
Knowlton Preserve/TalmadgeTract: Public works met with PA regarding constructing a parking area for Knowlton/Talmadge trail access on Mason Road. Funding for the project will need to be discussed at a future date. The article in the Willington Word asking for trail steward for the Preserve had a good outcome.
Wilford Farms LLC (formerly Ridgeview LLC) Timber harvest: CC is concerned about protecting the wetlands and possible vernal pools in the 20-acre conservation easement parcel in the NW corner of the Wilford Farms parce.l CC will continue to monitor the situation.
B. Town Development: PZC; IWWC: No news. Proposed subdivision on Lustig/Tinkerville Rds: Members of WCC went on the site walk for this proposal and reported back to the full WCC.
C. Collaborative Organizations:
Willimantic River Alliance: No report
Joshua’s Trust: No report
Windham County Conservation Consortium: No Report
D. Open Space Map Updating: CJ with M.Cipriano at WINCOG, has completed the update of the Town open space map. The maps will be printed by the end of June.
E. Levesque Farmland Preservation PA reported on communications with the Northern Conn. Land Trust.
